Hermann Hospital Donates Retired Wheelchairs and Clinical Recliners to Those in Need
June 13, 2018
Hermann Area District Hospital was recently in need of new clinical recliner and wheelchair replacements to better serve its patients. The Hospital Auxiliary learned of this need and provided a generous donation to the hospital resulting in 6 new clinical recliners and 18 wheelchairs. After researching in how to best retire the used wheelchairs and clinical recliners, the hospital found that the VFW in Hermann was in need of three wheelchairs which the hospital was happy to donate. After the VFW donation, there were still several more to donate. The hospital did not want to throw them out, but rather find somewhere that could benefit from them. Susan Lenger discovered the organization, Washington Overseas Mission group out of Washington, Missouri. This organization is a non-denominational medical, dental, and construction group who has an upcoming medical mission trip to Honduras, later this summer. The group has been going on mission trips for the past 25 years. Hermann Hospital donated 5 used clinical recliners and 15 used wheelchairs to the group. The wheelchairs and clinical recliners are able to be shipped out this month in June to be utilized right away for those in need. For anyone interested in learning more about the Washington Overseas Mission group, you may visit their website at www.overseasmission.org.
