Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any additional questions, please call or contact us today.

  • What is infusion therapy?

Infusion therapy is a safe, effective way to deliver medications, fluids, or treatments directly into the body under the supervision of specially trained healthcare professionals. Many treatments that once required hospitalization can now be provided in a comfortable outpatient setting, allowing patients to receive the care they need and return home the same day.

  • Who can receive treatment?

Anyone who has been referred by their healthcare provider for medically necessary infusion therapy may be eligible for treatment. Our team works with referring providers to coordinate care, verify insurance coverage, and schedule treatment as quickly as possible. Patients are evaluated to ensure infusion therapy can be provided safely in our outpatient setting.

  • How long does the infusion take?

Depending on the type of medication you are having infused, the amount of time could vary from as little as 30 minutes up to five hours.

  • What should I expect during my first visit?

During every visit, you will check in at registration and wait in the Infusion Center waiting room. Your nurse will complete an assessment and review any medications, allergies, and any recent health changes. Your nurse will then place the IV (or use of an existing central line, if applicable) and administer the prescribed medication or fluid. Your nurse will continuously monitor you throughout the treatment for safety and effectiveness. You may remain for observation once your treatment is completed, if required. Once you are ready for discharge, your nurse will provide you with follow-up instructions.

  • Can I eat before my infusion?

Unless your healthcare provider instructs you otherwise, eat a light meal before arriving and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

  • Can I continue my normal activities after an infusion?

Whether you can continue normal activities depends on the type of infusion you receive. Many people can return to light routines while avoiding heavy exercise, alcohol, and heat for 24 hours.

  • Is infusion therapy covered by insurance?

Infusion therapy is covered by insurance when it is deemed medically necessary by a doctor. Most insurance plans require formal pre-approval and clinical documentation from your doctor before paying for the treatment.
